Strategy - overview

Section 1 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 required Local Authorities to assess the levels of homelessness in their area and produce homelessness strategies. Guidance was issued incorporating the recommendations of the Homelessness Task Force and stressed the need for the development and delivery of strategies to be a corporate undertaking and to involve partnership working with agencies external to the Local Authority. In 2002, guidance was issued to local authorities in constructing their strategies. A copy of this guidance is avaiable from the Scottish Executive's interweb site here.
