The following is a summary of the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 - it is not intended to be detailed legal advice on the provisions.

 

The Act was the first significant piece of homelessness legislation in the UK. It introduced statutory duties on housing authorities to assist those who were homeless or threatened with homelessness (potentially homeless), including providing accommodation in certain circumstances.
